Ardhi University (ARU)
Ardhi University, commonly known by the acronym ARU, is one of the recognized universities in Tanzania. This institution plays an important role in higher education by offering academic and professional training to students from Tanzania and beyond.
University Background
Between 1956 to 1971, Ardhi University began as a Survey Training School, training Survey Technicians at the Certificate Level. In 1972, the Surveying Training School was renamed Ardhi Institute and began providing two-year diploma programs in land surveying, estate management, and valuation. The two-year programs were expanded to three-year Advanced Diploma Programs in Land Management and Valuation, Land Surveying, Town and Urban Planning, Architecture, and Quantity Surveying in 1975. Ardhi Institute became a Constituent College of the University of Dar es Salaam in 1996 and began providing four-year degree programs under the name University College of Lands and Architectural Studies. Ardhi University became a fully pledged university in 2007, and the University College of Lands and Architectural Studies became a fully pledged university in 2008.
